The vaults of the presbytery and the alcove feature a cheerful representation of heaven with scattered angels carrying musical instruments and symbols of the Passion.
The church is a Latin cross with a single nave leading to interconnecting chapels. The alcove of the altarpiece of Jesus of Nazareth, projecting over the street, is attached to the transepts on the left side, and the former sacristy, now the sacramental chapel, is on the right side. The nave, of considerable width, is covered with a barrel vault divided into six sections by transverse arches, some of which are paired, with lunettes between them for lighting. The vaulted ceiling of the presbytery contains paintings of angels carrying musical instruments.
The side chapels have a square floor plan and are covered with domes and groin vaults on pendentives, while the transept is covered with a blind dome on pendentives, divided into eight segments representing the Fathers of the Church, with the four Evangelists in the pendentives. The side walls of the central nave, pierced by the access arches to the side chapels and by niches for altars, are reinforced with Doric pilasters of the giant order, recessed with a rectangular central recess and upper and lower cutouts.
Above the pilasters are sections of entablature with pedestals and whirligigs that stand out from the wall, and above the access arches to the chapels, moldings and plaques combine straight and curved shapes, enriching and dynamizing the walls.
On the Epistle side, starting from the lower part of the chapel, are the Chapel of St. Francis of Assisi; the Baptism Chapel (now dedicated to St. Marina) with a dome decorated with plasterwork, which partially preserves a 1778 mural painting depicting the Baptism of Christ by St. John, by Antonio de la Cruz; the Chapel of Our Lady of Fatima; the Chapel of St. Anthony; and, in the transept area, the Tabernacle Chapel with a decorated dome.
On the Gospel side, also starting from the lower part of the chapel, are the Chapel of Our Lady of Mount Carmel or Our Lady of the Souls, with Carmelite saints painted on the pendentives of the dome; the Chapel of St. Peter (or of Jesus praying in the Garden); the Penitential Chapel with an iron grille separating it from the church; and the Pilar Chapel.
The bell tower uses an earlier one as a shaft. It has a square floor plan with an interior staircase with a square central stem, built in stone up to the machicolations above a band of balls separating the bell chamber. It dates from the late 18th century and is constructed of brick. The exterior features high buttresses that protrude from the roofs of the side chapels.
