Ronda Wine Museum

The Ronda Wine Museum is located in a historic palace in the citys old town, with over a thousand years of history. The museum has ten permanent exhibition halls, a covered patio, an audiovisual room, a tasting room, and a wine shop. One of its most notable attractions is the Ronda Wine Fountains, ancient stone fountains with four bronze taps, each offering a different type of wine, attracting numerous visitors eager to enjoy this unique experience.

Beyond preserving and exhibiting its valuable cultural heritage, the museum is dedicated to promoting interest in winemaking through curiosity, inventiveness, and research. It belongs to Bodegas La Sangre de Ronda, establishing itself as a dynamic space for communication and learning about the world of wine.

The building architecture is unique, and its history is marked by a thousand-year-old tradition of winemaking. During its renovation, remains were found demonstrating occupation spanning more than two thousand years, with Iberian, Phoenician, and Roman influences. The central courtyard, in the style typical of a Roman villa, reflects the Moorish intimacy of its L-shaped layout. At its peak, the building was part of the Giants House, a Moorish royal palace that was possibly used as a winery. Over the centuries, the building has been adapted and used both as a residence and a winery, remaining a crucial point in the regions winemaking tradition.

The museums activities include guided tours, guided tastings of traditional wines, and oenology workshops. It also features a tasting school and a wine sensory workshop, allowing visitors to explore and delve deeper into the fascinating world of wine. All of this makes the Ronda Wine Museum a must see destination for wine lovers and those interested in local history and culture.
