Dolmens of Corominas

The first grouping of dolmenic necropolises on the Costa del Sol represents a valuable archaeological testimony of the region. This formation consists of several structures covered and enclosed by stone slabs, known as orthostats, which contain the remains of dozens of individuals and their funerary deposits. Among the finds in these tombs are ceramic vessels, arrowheads, polished axes, and personal ornaments, revealing significant aspects of the culture and burial practices of the time.


During the transition period between the Copper Age and the beginning of the Bronze Age, these tombs were used for individual burials placed inside and around them. Artifacts discovered in these graves, such as cooked clay plates and bowls, as well as metal objects including a gold spiral, provide clues about the social structure and status differences within the community, likely related to gender and lineage.


The discovery of this necropolis occurred during the construction of the AP-7 toll highway on the Costa del Sol, specifically in the Estepona-Guadiaro section. The significance of the find led to measures being taken to preserve these archaeological remains. Between 2001 and 2002, the five megalithic tombs were dismantled and relocated to the San Isidro Labrador park. These dolmens have been incorporated into an Interpretation Center, where the site
