Roman Villa of El Ruedo

This rural Roman villa dates from between the 1st and 6th centuries AD, illustrating the transition from the classical Roman world to Late Antiquity.

This villa is renowned for its excellent state of preservation and the richness of its findings. Among its most remarkable features are the mosaics, thermal baths, and rooms decorated with frescoes. Additionally, sculptures of great value have been discovered, including the statue of the god Hypnos, symbol of sleep, considered one of the finest representations of its kind found in Spain.

El Ruedo provides a unique insight into daily life in a Roman villa, showcasing both the residential area, where the owners lived, and the productive sector, dedicated to agriculture and resource exploitation.

Today, the Roman Villa of El Ruedo is a key site for studying Romanization in Andalusia and a must-visit destination for history and archaeology enthusiasts
