The Chapel of the Holy Christ of the True Cross

With a rectangular floor plan, approximately 22 meters long by 10 meters wide, the chapel has a simple façade, adorned with a modest semicircular arch doorway and crowned by a striking reddish brick bell gable, divided into two sections with openings. Inside, a single nave with a lowered vault, devoid of ornamentation, welcomes the faithful through the aforementioned doorway, preceded by a small entrance over which the choir stands.

In the presbytery, at the end of the nave, stands a neoclassical altarpiece, the work of Valencian artisans, housing three large niches where images of Calvary are venerated. In the center is the Most Holy Christ of the True Cross, an antique wooden carving from the late 16th century, restored in 1993 by the Cordoban sculptor Miguel Arjona Navarro. The figure, slightly smaller than life-size, represents Christ crucified, wearing a crown of thorns and a serene expression that reflects his sacrifice.

Accompanying the Christ are the dressed images of Our Lady of Sorrows and Saint John the Evangelist, made by local artist Antonio Reyes Pérez in the 1940s. In addition, a papier-mâché effigy of Christ dead, dating from the first half of the 17th century, which was used to represent the Descent from the Cross, is preserved.
