Lighthouse

The construction of the Punta Doncella Lighthouse took place between 1861 and 1863 under the direction of engineer Antonio Molina. Initially, the light beam was elevated just over 8 meters above the ground and 18 meters above sea level, with a range of approximately 12 nautical miles. In 1918, the light flashes were standardized, a feature that remains to this day. In 1922, a new 20-meter tower was erected to improve the signal.

The current lighthouse retains its octagonal stone tower, although the building has undergone renovations and expansions. The signaling is now automated, with a new computer-controlled remote system for operation.

In terms of its characteristics, the Punta Doncella Lighthouse has a total height of 22 meters. It emits 1+2 flashes every 15 seconds and has a theoretical range of 18 nautical miles. Its operation is automatic and electric, with photoelectric cell ignition, ensuring efficiency and precision in maritime signaling.
