The history of Puerto Banús is filled with glamour and sophistication. Architect Noldi Schreck, known for his work in Beverly Hills, was the genius behind this port. Convicted by Prince Alfonso of Hohenlohe and José Banús, Schreck designed a picturesque Andalusian village with a marina, avoiding the skyscrapers that had initially been planned. Thus was born the first luxury port designed by a single architect, bearing the name of its main promoter, José Banús.
The inauguration of the port was a memorable event, attended by personalities such as the Princes of Spain, Juan Carlos and Sofia of Greece, the Princes of Monaco, Rainier and Grace Kelly, and celebrities like Roman Polanski and Hugh Hefner. The evening was enlivened by a young Julio Iglesias, marking the beginning of a golden era for Puerto Banús.
