the Iberian Settlement of Cerro de la Cruz

is an important archaeological site that provides detailed insights into Iberian culture between the 6th and 2nd centuries BC. This settlement belonged to the Túrdulos, one of the main Iberian ethnic groups of the Iberian Peninsula, and is believed to have been a strategic enclave both for defense and trade.

The settlement is located on a naturally defensible hill, with houses organized in terraces adapted to the slope of the terrain. Archaeologists have uncovered remains of domestic structures, ceramics, tools, and everyday objects that reveal details about the daily lives of its inhabitants. Additionally, evidence of ritual and funerary practices has been found, demonstrating the strong religious beliefs of Iberian society.

One of the most fascinating aspects of the site is its sudden destruction at the end of the 2nd century BC, likely due to violent conflict, possibly related to the wars between Iberians and Romans for control of the territory.
