Museum

It contains more than 300 artifacts, ranging from prehistory to the Muslim period, with particular emphasis on those of Iberian and Roman origin. Among the treasures it houses are emblematic sculptures such as the Venus of Montemayor and the Satyr, ceramics, notable bronzes such as the Iberian axe, inscriptions, and an extensive numismatic collection, as well as fossils discovered in the area.

Since its creation by Decree of the Bishopric of Córdoba on November 3, 1973, the Montemayor Archaeological Museum has established itself as a guardian of the history and heritage of our community. Its origin dates back to the vision of parish priest Pablo Moyano Llamas, who, together with the collaboration of the neighbors, began collecting archaeological pieces starting in 1965. This joint effort led to the formation of a museum dedicated to preserving and exhibiting the rich historical legacy of Montemayor, with a particular focus on the remains of the ancient Iberian-Roman city of Ulía.
