The parish church of Our Lady of the Assumption in Cómpeta

The main façade was also renovated due to this earthquake and is the work of local painter and sculptor José Antonio Rivas Fernández. Rivas Fernández also created the Plaza de las Tradiciones (Traditions Square), where he depicted various traditional crafts in eight ceramic murals, accompanied by a poem dedicated to the people.

The interior of the church houses a rich collection of sacred art. The main altar features a representation of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, painted by Francisco Hernández in 1972. The mural on the baptismal font comes from the Hermitage of San Sebastián, the buildings patron saint.

Despite the numerous events that have affected its interior, such as the burning of images and bonfires lit during the Civil War, the church remains in excellent condition. The temple is open most of the day, allowing visitors to admire its extensive imagery and rich artistic content. The church square, which also houses the monument to the "Vendimiador" (Grape Harvester), is a focal point of community life in Cómpeta.
