La Almona Guadalcanal

The building was constructed in 1307. It was originally the granary house of the Master of the Order of Santiago. Architecturally, it is a slightly trapezoidal stone construction. It consists of two floors, each formed by a single nave covered with a wooden framework.

The building receives light through narrow arrow slits, some of which were widened after the original construction, which, due to its characteristics—especially the proportion of the arches—can be dated to a rather early period, perhaps the first half of the 14th century, according to experts.

This building is included in the Archaeological and Artistic Catalogue of Seville and its Province, by the General Directorate of Fine Arts. It is the oldest structure of the Order of Santiago that exists in Guadalcanal.
