Jardines de Pedro Luis Alonso

History of a Green Space in the Heart of Málaga

Jardines de Pedro Luis Alonso originated from the revitalization of the space surrounding the Palacio de la Aduana, a historic building dating back to the early 18th century that originally served as the customs house of Málaga.

The idea to create these gardens emerged in the 1990s as part of a broader effort to beautify and revitalize the historic center of Málaga. In 1994, the gardens were inaugurated, paying tribute to the architect Pedro Luis Alonso, who was also responsible for the design of the customs building.

Over the years, the Jardines de Pedro Luis Alonso have become a meeting place for locals and tourists, providing a breath of nature amidst the city. Furthermore, since their inauguration, the gardens have hosted various cultural activities, such as art exhibitions and concerts, contributing to the social and cultural life of the city.
