Historic-Botanical Garden La Concepción

Natural Oasis in Málaga

The Historic-Botanical Garden La Concepción in Málaga is one of Spain’s most remarkable botanical gardens and an iconic site in the city. Founded in the 19th century by Amalia Heredia Livermore and Jorge Loring Oyarzábal, this garden was initially conceived as a private romantic garden inspired by English styles. Later, in 1990, the City of Málaga acquired it and opened it to the public, preserving its historic design and expanding it with new areas and collections.

The garden hosts an enormous variety of plant species, with over 2,000 subtropical and tropical plants, making it one of the most biodiverse gardens in Europe. Among its most notable areas are the "Route of the Camellia," the "Palm Garden," and the "Route of the Viewpoints," where visitors can enjoy panoramic views of Málaga. It also includes greenhouses, fountains, ponds, and waterfalls, along with an impressive collection of sculptures and archaeological pieces that reflect the region’s history and culture.

A visit to La Concepción is a unique experience combining nature, history, and art, offering the perfect setting for peaceful walks in a lush natural environment.
