Fuentes de Bubión

Strolling through Bubión following the trail of its fountains is a charming way to explore the village, uncovering hidden corners and enjoying the freshness of mountain water. Each fountain has a story to tell, reflecting centuries of communal history.

Fuente Hondera de Bubión

Located on Barrio Bajo street, in the lower part of the village, Fuente Hondera features two spouts and is situated right at the beginning of the path leading down to Pampaneira. This water point is essential not only for its functionality but also as a meeting and resting spot, marking the start of routes that invite exploration of the natural beauty of the Alpujarras.

Its design, possibly featuring a small gallery for water accumulation, reflects local wisdom in water resource management and its importance in daily life.

Fuente del Lavadero de Bubión

Located near the school and the parking area of Bubión, this four-spout fountain pours water into a limestone trough. According to locals, it has the best flow and quality of water in the village, and it is common to see people filling bottles and jugs.

The excess water feeds into the old laundry area known as Lavadero Alto, which dates back to at least 1945 and has been recently restored. This spot is not only a vital resource for residents but also a cultural and social connection point, where generations meet and share stories.
