Hundidero Cave: A Subterranean Giant in the Ronda Mountains

One of the Most Impressive Caves in Andalusia

Hundidero Cave, located in Montejaque, is the entrance to one of the largest underground systems in Andalusia. With an opening over 50 meters high, this cave is the starting point of the Hundidero-Gato complex, a network of tunnels and lagoons extending more than ten kilometers.

A Spectacular Natural Landscape

The entrance to the cave is surrounded by an impressive rocky environment, with vertical walls and typical vegetation of the Ronda Mountains. During the rainy season, the Guadares River flows inside, adding to its beauty and mystery.

A Challenge for Caving Enthusiasts

Due to its complexity and extreme conditions, the Hundidero-Gato system can only be explored by experienced cavers. However, the entrance and surrounding area offer a fascinating experience for hikers and nature lovers.

History and Legends

In the 20th century, an attempt was made to build a dam in the area, but the water disappeared through cracks in the karst system, making the project impossible. Today, the ruins of the dam add an enigmatic touch to the landscape.

A Magical Place in Nature

Hundidero Cave is a must-visit destination for those seeking adventure, history, and breathtaking scenery. A hidden treasure in Montejaque that continues to amaze visitors
