Convent of the Conceptionist Mothers

In a papal bull granted by Pope Gregory XIII on September 15, 1573, the union of the two monasteries of nuns in the town of Hinojosa del Duque was arranged, both under the patronage of the Mother of God and the Conception, to form the Monastery ordered to be founded by the illustrious Lord Don Luis de Sotomayor, Count of Belalcázar. The church of the convent was solemnly consecrated on April 28, 1693.

The building is distinguished by its imposing structure, with elegant buttresses that stand out on the façade, where there are two doorways. The oldest and most artistic is flanked by slender columns, while on the frieze you can see the shields of Sotomayor and Zúñiga. However, the most notable feature of the convent is its magnificent courtyard measuring 27 metres on each side, adorned with arches on granite columns, making it a space of singular beauty.
