On the site where the parish now stands, the original Muslim fortress from the Almohad period was built, of which only a piece of wall remains, located next to the head of the temple, with a pointed horseshoe arch framed by an alfiz.
The Gothic-Mudejar temple, built with ashlar stone and brick, has a rectangular floor plan and is divided into three naves, segmented into four sections by cruciform pillars, topped with very simple cavetto capitals that support pointed arches. As the 16th century progressed, the head chapels of the side naves were constructed. The 17th century saw the construction of the sacristy. By the 18th century, the construction of the choir at the foot of the temple and the renovation of the nave roofs must have been undertaken. The current main altarpiece, executed in 1955, houses a series of paintings by Rafael Blas Rodríguez. In the attic, there is a 16th-century sculpture of the Crucified Christ and two late 16th-century panels depicting Saint Peter, Saint Paul, and the Last Supper. The altar front is of great interest, made of Sevillian tiles, dating to around 1600
