Castle of Baena

The history of Baena Castle dates back to the Muslim era, when the city was an important defensive and economic center on the border between al-Andalus and the Christian kingdoms of the north. The castle was built in the 10th century on the remains of a Roman fortress and was later expanded and fortified by the Arab rulers of the region. During this period, the castle played a crucial role in defending the city against attacks from the Christian kingdoms of the north and in controlling the surrounding territory.

After the Christian conquest of Baena in the 13th century, the castle came under the control of the Crown of Castile and became one of the region
