It is a 19th-century residential palace in French style, located in the Alameda de Hércules. It is popularly known as Casa de las Sirenas due to the large figures of these mythical beings that adorned the ramps leading to the main entrance.
The construction was commissioned in 1861 by the Marquis of Esquivel to architect Joaquín Fernández Ayarragaray, and the works were completed in 1864. Over time, with various owners who scarcely inhabited it, the building fell into disrepair and became a ruin, while the Alameda de Hércules had also deteriorated.
In 1992, the City Council of Seville acquired the property and began its restoration. Today, it serves as a Civic Center for the "Casco Antiguo" district, hosting numerous cultural activities such as conferences, concerts, exhibitions, and more.
