Carrera del Darro Granada

The Carrera del Darro is one of the oldest streets in Granada and one of the most visited due to its undeniable beauty and historical significance. Walking along it is a must for any visitor, as it offers views of the imposing Alhambra perched above the surrounding forests, as well as the soothing sound of the Darro River flowing alongside its left side.

The waters of the river flow clean and calm under the ancient bridges of Aljibillo, Chirimias, Cabrera, and Espinosa that connect the Carrera with the Churra neighborhood. You can also see on its left bank the remains of the Cadí bridge, from the 11th century, which connected the Alhambra with the Albaicín neighborhood.

Opposite the Espinosa bridge are the Arab baths of Bañuelo, and a little further ahead are the Convent of Santa Catalina de Zafra and the Casa de Castril, an example of 16th-century Renaissance beauty, which is currently the headquarters of the archaeological museum. In front of them is the Church of San Pedro and San Pablo, a magnificent work of Mudéjar style. Finally, the Carrera opens into a square that connects with the Paseo de los Tristes.
