House of Cardona

Casa Cardona, a modernist mansion in Fuente Obejuna, Córdoba, stands out for its innovative architecture and rich history. Built between 1905 and 1908 by Pedro Celestino Romero del Santo, its modernist style goes beyond the façade, influencing its entire structure. This square-shaped building features a central courtyard and a semicircular rotunda that adds a distinctive touch. Its main façade, located on Doctor Miras Navarro Street, and the one facing the garden, are adorned with modernist details, such as doors and windows decorated with plant motifs and elegant moldings.

The interior design reflects the same modernist aesthetic, with mural paintings in the main rooms, although many of them are deteriorated. The house has a three-flight staircase, also in the modernist style, that leads to the main floor. The garden, designed to complement the mansion, is a private space that enhances the beauty of the building.

The surroundings of Casa Cardona are equally impressive. Inserted into the urban fabric of Fuente Obejuna, this majestic structure stands out for its innovative architecture and complex decorative language, which contrasts with the surrounding popular houses. Its unusual location in a village in the Cordoba mountains makes it a unique landmark in the region
