French Quarter

In front of each house was a large garden, surrounded by a wooden fence. The windows were also made of wood, and the houses were notable for their spacious rooms with high ceilings and large backyards. Inside, the service areas were clearly distinguished from those for the owners.

Today, some of these houses retain their original exterior structure, although others have been replaced by more modern constructions. The Milton Livesey College building, which originally belonged to the Mining Society, was built in an elegant French neoclassical style. Its harmonious beauty stems from the careful symmetry and classical alignment of the windows on the facades, accentuated by the exterior gates surrounding the peaceful English garden in front.
