The Torreparedones site is located on a hill overlooking the Guadajoz River valley, making it a strategically important location from a military and defensive standpoint. However, Torreparedones reached its peak during the Iberian period, when a fortified city was built, becoming one of the main urban centers of the region.
The Iberian city of Torreparedones was founded in the 6th century BC and reached its maximum splendor in the 4th and 3rd centuries BC. During this time, the city was surrounded by defensive walls with watchtowers and was organized around an acropolis situated at the highest point of the hill. Inside the city, remains of houses, storage facilities, workshops, and public buildings have been found, as well as a series of tombs and necropolises that indicate the city.
