Torre Quebrada

The tower retains its original name because it was in ruins for several centuries between the 15th and 16th centuries. Historical documents indicate that in 1504, the reconstruction of the tower began, and later in 1567, it was rebuilt again by the Granadian mason Pedro de la Chica, following the detailed specifications in the work order.

Built with masonry of black schist stone abundant in the area, the tower has a truncated conical shape and features a displaced entrance and a bricked-up window to prevent collapses. Its dimensions and materials match the specifications of the works carried out by Pedro de la Chica in 1567.

The Torre Quebrada played an important role in coastal surveillance, and historical documents mention the assignment of guards for its protection and maintenance. Currently, the tower lends its name to various urbanizations, a hotel and casino, as well as a golf course in the Benalmádena area.
