San Vicente Church of Guadalcanal

At the beginning of the 18th century, the Brotherhood of the Rosary, established from its origins in the parish of Santa María, went into decline. It came forward thanks to the impulse of the Venerable Simón the Hermit, who died in 1711. He was responsible for the construction of this chapel, dedicated to San Vicente Ferrer the Venerable Simón, who lived retired in the hermitage of San Benito. He managed to once again enliven the brothers and devotees of the Rosary by taking out a procession through the streets of the town at dawn. In order to have their own temple where they could celebrate their services, shortly after his death, the Brotherhood of the Rosario de la Aurora began to build the temple of San Vicente, which was completed in 1739. At the end of the century, on January 1, In 1792, the brotherhood approved new rules.

In 1914 it fell into decline and was permanently dissolved. In mid-1917 it was closed definitively. In 1936 it also suffered the consequences of the Civil War, with all its movable heritage being destroyed.
