Cueva del Sahara

It was discovered in August 1961 by P. Braun and his team, whose findings were published in 1963. Since then, the cave has undergone significant alteration due to human activity and marked decalcification.

Among the materials found on the surface, smooth ceramics predominate, mainly used for cooking and storage. Notable are the fragments of globular or piriform vessels, as well as spherical and semi-spherical bowls. Some decorated fragments display linear incisions and pinched cordons. Tools such as a stone smoother have been found.

Regarding the lithic industry, small flint blades with triangular or trapezoidal sections prevail. Personal ornament objects have also been documented, such as pendants made from perforated marine shells, a punch, a bone comb, and a spindle whorl, possibly used in activities related to fishing or textile production.

The collected materials suggest that the site dates back to the last moments of the Neolithic, although the presence of a sickle element made of flint may indicate the existence of still unidentified Copper Age strata
