Founded in the 16th century, this convent was the work of the Order of the Discalced Carmelites, a branch of the Carmelites dedicated to contemplative and ascetic life, following the teachings of Saint Teresa of Avila and Saint John of the Cross.

The convent played an important role in the religious life of Osuna during the 17th and 18th centuries, as it became a center of devotion and spiritual formation for the women of the community. In addition, during this time the convent experienced a period of great prosperity, fueled by donations from the nobility and the faithful of the region.
