Located in Granada, in the heart of the Albaicín, the Carmen de los Geranios - Max Moreau Cultural Center is a simple building that still retains its Islamic layout. It consists of a dwelling and terraced garden, with Roman origins and Arabic tradition. The Carmen has elements of both a garden and an orchard, serving as a place of production and enjoyment.
On the left, there is an Exhibition Hall where the works of the Belgian painter are usually displayed, as well as other works by invited artists within the cultural project "Espacios de Arte."
It was the residence of the Belgian artist Max Léon Moreau, who lived here for more than thirty years, leaving all his possessions to the City Council of Granada upon his death in 1992. It was restored in 1998 as a House Museum.
In line with its Carmen typology, it features a dwelling, orchard, and garden, along with three small terraces to adapt to the slope of the hill. It consists of three independent buildings connected by patios: the painters house, the studio, and the caretakers dwelling. The dwelling now serves as the permanent exhibition hall for part of his work, while what was once his studio, the area that underwent the most intervention, now recreates the painters life
