Since 1998, cultural managers Rosana de Aza and Olinto de la Obra, pioneers in promoting and disseminating the artistic and cultural heritage of Al-Andalus, have worked to foster the history of traditional flamenco and enhance the folkloric tradition of Andalusia, a UNESCO World Heritage.
Rehabilitated and converted into a cultural center, this house-palace preserves the magical essence of Seville’s tradition, with a blooming central courtyard and imposing brick and stone walls.
Inside, it features several rooms designated as art galleries and exhibition spaces, where visitors can enjoy temporary exhibitions and the private collection of artworks, objects, and historical documents of the house. Added to this are the numerous activities that Casa de la Memoria has been organizing since its creation, including book and album presentations, lectures, flamenco fashion shows, master classes on the history of flamenco, poetry recitals, guitar concerts, world music performances, theatrical tours, and much more. All these make the Centro Cultural Flamenco of Seville a unique and essential destination for both local and foreign visitors.
This cultural center, museum, and flamenco tablao, located in a 15th-century house-palace that once housed the former stables of the nearby palace of the Countess of Lebrija, offers an intimate space reminiscent of the old “cafés cantantes.” It allows the public to enjoy close interaction with the artists and appreciate the authentic sound of the finest flamenco in Seville, and probably the world.
