Built with brick, stone, and cement, the building also features stunning stained glass windows inside, adding a touch of beauty and color to the ensemble.
The monument is full of symbolism, representing elements from the three cultures present in medieval Spain: Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. Additionally, it pays tribute to the Catholic Monarchs and to those who accompanied Columbus on his first voyage, including Diego Arana and Vicente Yáñez.
One of the most striking features of the Castillo de Colomares is its footprint of 1,500 square meters, making it the largest monument dedicated to Christopher Columbus. Inside, there is a small chapel measuring only 1.96 square meters, dedicated to Saint Elizabeth of Hungary.
