Chapel of Charity

Although today only its facade and bell gable remain, this simple yet significant structure offers a glimpse into the village’s historic past. Known initially as the Corpus Christi Hospital, the chapel’s mission was clear: to aid those most in need, providing daily assistance to the poor and care for abandoned children.

Its architecture reflects the functional style of the time, with a semi-circular arch supported by pilasters and crowned by a single-tier brick bell gable. The hospital and chapel played an essential role in the community, offering spaces for the sick and extending all the way to the nearby castle tower. However, following secularization in the 19th century and the gradual expropriation of its assets, the building adapted to various new uses, including a clinic and even a Civil Guard post.

Over time, the structure fell into ruin, ultimately leading to the demolition of much of the original building. Today, the site has been revitalized with a new purpose, housing the Posadas Office of Tourism and Environment, where visitors can explore the town’s local heritage. Although transformed, the Chapel of Charity remains a symbol of service, reminding visitors of an era when it was a center of aid and comfort for the Posadas community
