Puerta de Almocábar

Its name derives from the Arabic "Al-maqabir," due to its proximity to the old Muslim cemetery. Right in front of this gate, outside the city limits, lies the Plaza de San Francisco. This site was crucial on May 20, 1485, when Castilian troops under the command of the Marquis of Cádiz gathered there, bringing an end to Arab rule over Ronda and its mountain region.

The architectural complex has been influenced by the Renaissance style, prominently featuring the imperial eagle coat of arms of Charles V, added later. In 1961, the gate was restored to preserve its historical and architectural significance
