Dos Hermanas Castle

Conquered around 1240, this castle was handed over to Captain Fernán Núñez de Témez, becoming an integral part of local history. Its strategic position on a small rise made it a key point in the defense of the region.

Square in shape and with towers at its corners, the Castle of Dos Hermanas stands as a symbol of resistance and power. However, the passage of time and historical events have left their mark, and today it lies in ruins.

Despite its deterioration, the remains of the walled perimeter and some towers can still be seen, evoking the fortresss past grandeur. Furthermore, evidence of rural settlement from the Roman period has been found nearby, adding layers of history and mystery to its legacy.

Martín Alfonso de Córdoba, in an act that merges history with legend, used some of the materials from Dos Hermanas Castle to build Montemayor Castle, ensuring that its history would live on in the stones of another fortress.

Despite its current state, Dos Hermanas Castle remains a site of historical and archaeological interest, attracting those seeking to connect with the past and explore the secrets that lie within its ruins.
