Cueva del Ojo de la Bruja y el Puente Encantado

One kilometer before reaching the village, coming from Pampaneira, next to the cemetery, lies the Cueva del Ojo de la Bruja and the Puente Encantado, the first point to visit in Soportújar.

Inside this small cave, you can see a recreation of a witch crafting magical potions and spells, which she used to foresee the future or cast an evil eye. Right next to the cave, there is a ravine and a bridge, which is said to be enchanted.

This cave gives its name to the adjacent ravine. It was inhabited by poor families during the past century. It is a revered and visited place by both locals and visitors.

According to the oral tradition of Soportújar and the surrounding villages, passed down from generation to generation, this cave was a witness to alleged witchcraft practices by the locals. Many legends are associated with witches, spirits, goblins, and events that occurred there. The most popular one claimed that the crack at the back of the cave connected to other worlds. It was believed that spirits entered and exited through it, and it was a passage to purgatory for those souls still needing to "pay" their penance.
