Castillo de Bil Bil

The Castillo de El Bil Bil, an emblematic building in Benalmádena, Málaga, stands out for its Neo-Arab style and literary influence since the 19th century. Designed as a defensive fortress with cubic shapes, its structural design is based on a central courtyard around which the architectural space is distributed. The decoration, reminiscent of Nazarí palaces, includes elements such as tiles, epigraphy, grilles, and latticework, crafted by specialist Antonio Santiesteban. The castle, known as Castillo del Bil Bil, was commissioned in the 1930s by the Hermann couple from architect Enrique Atencia, but they never inhabited it due to the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War. Later, the Schestrom family made improvements and named it its current name. During the 1970s, the castle changed ownership several times until it was acquired by Gerard Saintmoux, who left it completely abandoned. In the 1980s, the Town Hall transformed it into a Cultural Center, restoring it twice. Additionally, it has been the setting for movies and television series, such as "El coleccionista de cadáveres" and "Toy Boy."
