The history of Posadas as a human settlement dates back to ancient times, from the Lower Paleolithic to the present day, with an almost uninterrupted occupation. Surface ceramic materials have been found, found in Paterna and in Cerro del Escribano, which demonstrate the existence of human settlements during the High Chalcolithic. In La Sierrezuela, the existence of two megalithic funerary monuments was documented.
With the Romanization of the territory, the occupation of Posadas was transcendental due to mining and the oil trade. Proof of this is the documentation of various mining exploitation groups in the mountains and Sierrezuela, as well as large villas and/or fundus throughout the valley and countryside.
Since 1264, Posadas became dependent on the council of Córdoba, and in 1629 Felipe IV sold it as a lordship to Diego Fernández de Córdoba.
