They are produced under the designation of origin Sierras de Málaga and bear the name of the Serranía de Ronda sub-area on their labelling. Although the wine tradition in Ronda has a long history, as evidenced by numerous names, at the end of the 19th century the vineyard almost disappeared due to the devastation caused by phylloxera. Almost a century later, the wines of Ronda are reborn strongly and since 2004, production has seen a remarkable increase.
